Subhaana-llaahi Walhamdu Lillaahi Walaaa Ilaaha Illa-llaahu Wallaahu Akbar. Walaa Hawla Walaa Quwwata Illaa Billaahi-l ‘Aliyyil ‘Azeem.
English Translation: Glory be to Allah, all praise is for Allah, there is no God but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Great.
The Third Kalima Tamjeed is a glorification of Allah. It contains Tasbeeh (SubhanAllah), Tahmeed (Alhamdulillah), Takbeer (Allahu Akbar), and the declaration of La Hawla Wala Quwwata Illa Billah. The 6 Kalimas in English make it easier for Muslims to learn the meaning of this Kalima, which increases Zikr, strengthens the heart with Imaan, and brings peace in daily life.

The Third Kalima:
The Third Kalima, also known as Tamjeed, means praising and glorifying Allah. In English, it is called the word of praise or word of glorification, showing the greatness and majesty of Allah. Understanding such Kalimas also inspires Muslims to learn Quran online with Tajweed, so they can strengthen their recitation and connection with Allah.
Importance of the Third Kalima (Tamjeed):
The main purpose of this supplication is to praise and glorify Allah, showing His greatness and worshiping Him.
In Sunan Abi Dawud (Hadith 19) it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to remember Allah at all times. Similarly, Abu Hurairah (RA) reported in Bukhari and Muslim that Allah is always with those who remember Him.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Allah says: ‘I am just as My slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they (in the assembly of angels). Sahih al-Bukhari 7405
This message is also repeated in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:152-153):
“So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me. O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”
The Third Kalima Tamjeed is a beautiful way to do Dhikr (remembrance of Allah). Dhikr has two main parts: moving the tongue with words of remembrance, and sincerity in the heart (niyyah).
As mentioned in Jami Tirmidhi (Hadith 2910): “Whoever recites a single letter from Allah’s Book will receive a good deed for it, and each good deed will be multiplied ten times.”
However, it is important to remember that actions are judged by intentions (niyyah). The goal of learning or reciting the Third Kalima should not be to show off to others, but to prove one’s sincerity and devotion to Allah ﷻ.
Benefit of Reciting the First Kalima:
Narrated Abu Musa: We were with the Prophet (ﷺ) on a journey, and whenever we ascended a high place, we used to say, “Allahu Akbar.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Don’t trouble yourselves too much! You are not calling a deaf or an absent person, but you are calling One Who Hears, Sees, and is very near.” Then he came to me while I was saying in my heart, “La hawla wala quwwatta illa billah (There is neither might nor power but with Allah).” He said, to me, “O `Abdullah bin Qais! Say, ‘La hawla wala quwwata illa billah (There is neither might nor power but with Allah), for it is one of the treasures of Paradise.” Or said, “Shall I tell you of it?”
