99 Names of Allah with translation (Al Asma Ul Husna)
The first pillar of Iman (faith) in Islam is the belief in Allah. As Muslims, we believe in Allah through His beautiful names and attributes, which are revealed in the Holy Quran to help us understand His divine essence. Allah has mentioned His names repeatedly throughout the Quran to guide us in recognizing His nature and majesty. Learning and memorizing these Names of Allah (Asma Ul Husna) is a vital step toward deepening our faith and understanding the true way to believe in Him. There is no act more sacred and rewarding than gaining this knowledge and living by these names.
After all, how can we truly worship, love, fear, and trust Allah Almighty if we do not know who He really is?
Allah says in the Quran:
“And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them.” (Quran 7:180)
“Allah—there is no deity except Him. To Him belong the best names.” (Quran 20:8)
“He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names.” (Quran 59:24)
Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
“Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will enter Paradise.”
(Sahih Bukhari 54:23)
Abu Huraira reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:
“There are ninety-nine names of Allah; he who commits them to memory will enter Paradise. Verily, Allah is Odd (He is one, and it is an odd number), and He loves odd numbers.”
(Sahih Muslim Book 48 Hadith 5)
