Commonly recited in Witr Prayer by those following the Hanafi madhhab.
Transliteration (Hanafi):
Translation in English (Hanafi):
O Allah! We seek Your help and ask for Your forgiveness. We believe in you and trust in you. We praise You with all goodness. We thank You and do not deny You. We forsake and turn away from the one who disobeys You. O Allah! You alone we worship. To You alone we pray and prostrate. For your sake, we strive and exert ourselves. We hope for Your mercy and fear Your punishment. Indeed, your punishment will overtake the disbelievers.
Dua e Qunoot – Shafi’i Version
Recited in the Witr prayer or during times of hardship in the Shafi’i madhhab.
Transliteration (Shafi’i):
Allahumma ihdini fīman hadayt, wa ‘āfini fīman ‘āfayt, wa tawallani fīman tawallayt, wa bārik lī fīmā a‘ṭayt, wa qinī sharra mā qaḍayt, fa’innaka taqḍī wa lā yuqḍā ‘alayk, wa innahu lā yadhillu man wālayt, wa lā ya‘izzu man ‘ādayt, tabārakta rabbana wa ta‘ālayt.
Translation in English (Shafi’i):
O Allah! Guide me among those You have guided, grant me well-being among those You have granted well-being, and take me into Your charge among those You have taken into Your charge.
Bless me in what You have given, and protect me from the evil You have decreed. Indeed, You decree, and none can pass decree upon You. He is not humiliated by whom you support, and he is not honored by whom you oppose. Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted.
