6 Kalimas in English are the foundation of Islamic belief, and the First Kalima Tayyab is the core of that faith. It represents the Shahada, the eternal declaration of belief in Tawheed (Oneness of Allah) and the Prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ. Every Muslim must recite, memorize, and live by this Kalima as it is the gateway to Islam. Without this belief, there is no Islam. What are the Six Kalimas and Why Are They Important?
There are six Kalimas in Islam, and millions of Muslims around the world memorize them because they teach the basic beliefs of faith and Islam. These Kalimas are simple statements of belief and remembrance of Allah, and they are often taught to children from a young age.
The First Kalima Tayyab is the word of purity. The Second Kalima Shahadat is the testimony of faith. The next three Kalimas are forms of zikr (remembrance of Allah) that guide Muslims to worship Him and seek His forgiveness.
Some people believe that it is compulsory for every Muslim to memorize all six Kalimas, but this is not true. The Kalimas are not mentioned together in the Quran or in any one hadith. Still, learning and understanding them is highly beneficial.
Insha’Allah, by memorizing and reciting the Six Kalimas, a Muslim can strengthen faith and carry these powerful words as a guide throughout life.
